I actually got this book for a class that I am taking. I bought it new thinking that I would be writing and highlight in it like a overachiever that I am, but interestingly enough that wasn't the case. The book was great if you knew how the medical system in the U.S. works but I could see people outside of their element with this book. Managed Care is a hard theory to get your head wrapped around if you have never worked in the healthcare field and don't understand what goes on "behind the scenes" for that doctor or that Physician Assistant does to actually see you in a hospital or doctor's office. It's a fairly think book for the major concepts introduced and some of the descriptions and definitions were a bit hard to understand due to their vagueness. I do refer back to it mostly for class but it's a good book.

The book came form a third party seller and it arrived in plastic, like new, like advertised.The topics were easy to understand. The text was not complicated.This book was a requirement for my course but I would recommend it to anyone interested in supplemental resources for reports etc. Includes information about the history of managed care along with recent healthcare information pertaining to the Affordable Care Act.

It is a good reference book and one that I shall keep for the future. If you are interested in economics or an economic major, this is a good resource, provided you work in healthcare.

Product is advertised as 10th edition, but is actually ninth edition. Product is shipped in a plastic wrap without any sort of binder. The cover page has the Tenth Edition cover identical to the image, however the second page is the cover of the Ninth Edition and the following contents are that of the Ninth edition, not the Tenth.

Needed this textbook for a C programming class. The book does a good job of providing code examples, and introducing programming concepts and syntax. It also introduces many common programming mistakes and coding best practices I wish they included an appendix with code solutions to help with some of the more difficult exercises. Also some of the end of chapter exercises are worded somewhat vaguely

What is the deal with these other people leaving reviews about how well the book was packaged or shipped? Yikes.Disclaimer: I haven't finished the book yet, I'm through 7 chapters. I figured I'd leave this review while I remembered to do so.Prior to this book I had next to 0 programming experience. The book does a great job of guiding the reader through the basics. The book typically gives an explanation, shows a very simple example, adds a few layers of information, shows a slightly more complex example, and continues this through the chapter. The chapters are divided up into good chunks of information. Chapter 5 on functions probably should have been subdivided, it felt like it dragged on and on and contained obnoxiously large amounts of information. For the most part the book doesn't assume you know too much, and gives plenty of background information before diving in. There have been a few times where I felt like it came up short in certain areas and didn't give a fair explanation prior, but these are few and far between.One of my favorite things about this book are the examples at the end of the chapter. They start out simple and get more challenging, and there are an abundant amount of examples. If you purchased a new book you get an access code which provides additional resources online, including the sample code throughout the chapter for you to easily compile and play with as well as answers to certain problems at the end of the chapter. Here's where one of my biggest problems with the book comes. The online resources provided with a new book only contain answers to the end-of-chapter problems for chapters 1, 2, and then 10+. What in the hell happened to solutions for chapters 3 through 9? Here's why the book gets 4 stars. In my opinion chapters 2 through 8 are the meat and potatoes of the book. Selection(if, if...else), sequence and repetition(loops) are covered in these chapters. Functions (and prototypes) are covered in these chapters. These are the basic building blocks and extremely important. So I've spent a ton of time working through the end-of-chapter problems and it sucks that the solutions for chapters 3 through 9 aren't there. In some cases I'm stumped by the problem, in other cases I've come to a solution and I'd like to compare my methodology (a new programmer) to theirs (an experienced programmer).

I was required to purchase this book for a C++ programming class.The book arrived on time and in good condition, with no errors in printing.However reading through it is one of the most frustrating things I've ever had to do, and I've been through some difficult courses. They constantly introduce new terms, then never fully define them, and continue to use them throughout the book expecting you to catch on. Then they use these underdefined terms to not fully define future terms, creating a mess of bizarre language that I can't seem to understand.I read through the code examples and can understand most of it with moderate ease, and then I try to read through their explanations of it and suddenly can't comprehend a thing.As a beginner, I feel this book is lacking. It's definitely not something you can use as a sole explainer of how to program.I would recommend purchasing a different book if possible.

I often recommend Deitel & Deitel's *C++ How to Program* to anyone that asks me for the best book to learn C++. After reading several Deitel books, I recognize their familiar and highly refined "formula" for teaching fundamental topics. While this book is relatively expensive, if you're having trouble understanding pointers, then Chapter 8 - Pointers will feel like money well-spent.

All aspects of order fulfilled & item was about in exactly the shape stated by seller. There is a treasure trove of information in this book. I did not have a chance to do a full blown study of the book so this review is not in depth. My 5 star is based upon being able to pick out a bunch of info that is good but, as I have seen, this book does not usually get 5 star reviews which is probably true for college class work where I am only doing it to learn the topic. These Schaum books are best when tackled in YOUR FREE TIME as going to school & trying to study them at the same time can be quite a challenge & can even mess oneself up as Scaum's, many times, uses different notations that profs at school thus my recommendations with Schaums is: 1) In school "pick out info" that you need help in, unless of course you are some sort of world class genius that can studdy both at same time, 2) Outside of school intensely study the book doing all the problems (if possible) as many of the Schaums books "build on principles in other chapters" making it difficult to go forward UNLESS you have tackled previous problems. I think buying this book is a good one to do as I have noted many things that were very helpful to understand this topic.

Buying this book was a waste of my time. It doesn't cover any of the material that I learned in my physical chemistry course at university. There are no equation derivations, only math problems using the equations. May work for some classes, but not mine.

Well, the fact that you're on this page is already telling: no one just stumbles across a physical chemistry study guide. As far as study guides go...there are only three that I know of. One is full of errors, so that's a no-go. The second one is the ACS and that just basically gives you a light rundown before assaulting you with questions. The third is this book. And I've got to say, it's a freaking awesome study guide (thank god, or I'd be seriously screwed; seriously, how can there only be three study guides out there?).This book is sectioned into parts...Thermodynamics, Statistical Mechanics...etc., etc. It combines both P.Chem I and P.Chem II (if your college has separated them into separate classes). I'll go into the pros/cons here, but know this prior: if your textbook is anywhere near as crappy as mine (i.e. explains all the theoretical crap, but doesn't bother to explain how to actually apply it), you want this book. Stat.Pros:(1) The glossary. Yeah, I know. "WTF, all books have a glossary!" True, yet not true. All books may have a glossary, but not a lot of study guides do. Continuing on, even if they somehow do have a glossary, it seems to be far lacking. This book has an extensive glossary, making it really easy to find what you're studying in class/the textbook spur of the moment.(2) Tons of problems sectioned out by category IN the category. Ok, so what do I mean. I mean, take for example the subject Thermodynamics. Inside thermo, there's a bunch of other sub-topics. This book takes example problems and sections them out into their sub-categories. Then, it gives you way more sample problems with answers (also sectioned out by category). Although these aren't worked, they're still really useful for practice.(3) Really easy to understand. And by that, I mean REALLY easy to understand. I've never had problems understanding anything until I reached this class. The problem for me, in this class, was the notation. Anyways, this book actually explains everything fairly well (basically, the fundamentals of p.chem). For more extensive knowledge then, it's easy to go back to the text book. As I said earlier, the textbook does all of the theoretical crap but doesn't explain the fundamentals. This explains the fundamentals which then makes understanding the theoretical crap so much easier.Cons:(1) In example problems, sometimes the book lists steps without actually saying what they did to get there. I.e., it does something from one step to the next, and doesn't say what was actually done. It's not a terrible problem, it just makes it a little more time consuming trying to figure out what they did.(2) Tends to use a lot of abbreviations to save space. It'll tell you to use equation 2.3 and 2.5 to solve and get 'this'. It's irritating to go back and get those equations to solve the problem. But it's a relatively small irritation.All in all, rating this book a 9/10~ It's a fairly excellent book, and you should give it a try if you're in need of a study guide.

The book is great for presenting many solved problems in the field. However, I was disappointed in not seeing many (if any) derivations of equations. I have come to expect good, insightful derivations from reading other Schaum series like "Vector Analysis" and "Theoretical Physics" --- 2 of my favorites. I would recommend this book for college level p-chem students who want practice with the concepts.

I'm currently taking Physical Chemistry II at Cornell University, which is basically Thermodynamics and all of the related subfields. Although I am usually highly satisfied with the content that Schaum's Outlines brings to the table, in this arena they've seemed to fail at making things easier to grasp, and ultimately triumphed at confusing me beyond belief. There is no mention of the partition function, and other than the VDW equation of state, there is no discussion about the Redlich-Kwong EOS nor the Peng-Robinson EOS which we were required to know as well. If you want a review book, I would not suggest purchasing this one.

About the Author
Robert L. Bernstein served as the president of Random House for twenty-five years. After being sent to Moscow as part of a delegation of American publishers in 1973, Bernstein established the organization that became Human Rights Watch. He lives in New York.
